This Privacy Policy explains how Magdy Youssef ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Oikonomia mobile application (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to this Policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only what the App needs to manage church services and assignments:
- Phone number — used to verify your identity through Firebase Phone Authentication and to sign you in.
- Profile details — your name, rank, role (e.g. deacon, head deacon, administrator), and the church you are associated with.
- Service data — your availability, skills/preferences, service assignments, confirmations, and attendance records.
- App preferences — such as your chosen interface language.
- Device notification token — a push-notification identifier (via Firebase Cloud Messaging) so we can send you assignment and reminder notifications.
- Basic technical/log data — limited diagnostic information needed to operate and secure the service.
We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos, or payment card details, and we do not use the App to track you across other apps or websites.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To verify your phone number and authenticate your account.
- To manage events, services, assignments, availability, skills, and attendance for your church.
- To send notifications (e.g. new assignments, reminders, and leader alerts).
- To operate, maintain, secure, and improve the App.
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
3. How Information Is Shared
We share information only with service providers that help us run the App, and only as needed:
- Google Firebase — phone authentication and push notifications (Firebase privacy).
- Microsoft Azure — secure cloud hosting and database storage.
- Your church's authorized leaders/administrators — can see service-related information (e.g. your assignments, availability, and attendance) for the purpose of organizing services.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
4. Data Storage and International Transfer
Your data is stored on Microsoft Azure servers located in the United States. If you use the App from outside the United States (including Egypt), your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
5. Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App. When you delete your account, your personal data is removed as described below, except where we are required to retain certain records by law.
6. Your Rights and Choices
- Delete your account — you can permanently delete your account and personal data directly in the App (Profile / menu → Delete account). This removes your profile, assignments, availability, skills, and notification tokens.
- Access and correction — you can view and update your profile details in the App, or contact us for assistance.
- Notifications — you can turn off push notifications in your device settings.
To exercise any right, contact us at magdyyousif@gmail.com.
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and authenticated access, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's Privacy
The App is intended for clergy, deacons, and authorized church administrators and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective date" above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
